Banks are awful

Sandbanks.

I spent almost two hours driving this afternoon, checking just about every surf spot from Ballina to Cape Byron, only to be met with terrible banks at every spot. I'd have to say that the only thing worse (for a surfer) than no swell, is plentiful swell but nowhere to ride it.

Granted, the nor-easter wasn't helping this particular swells cause, but c'mon, how is it possible that there's no good banks after almost two months of non-stop northerly winds?!

In the end, I settled on a swim. I swam my old local - a section of beach I lived by for four years - for the first time since moving house. I also learned/discovered that the council has finally replaced the freshwater showers, shifting them up by the path as opposed to taking up space in the small gravel carpark. Good onya Byron Council.

Oh, and following on from yesterdays learning re: the Vic Open - the men and women competing in this awesome event are doing so for equal prizemoney!
